The first sculpture based collaboration for Heart & Cherry Limited was with Bence Magyarlaki in 2021, the Hungarian born Paris based artist. In the sea of printed editions, limited edition sculptures can be seen as an interesting and unique asset in ones collection.
He lives and works in Paris and graduated in 2017 with a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London. She has exhibited in the UK, France, Morocco, Portugal, Turkey and Australia. His work has been nominated for the MullenLowe NOVA Awards (2017) and The International Takifuji Art Award (2017).
His sculptures are dynamic representations of a body bending in on itself or intertwined with another. His Body Schema series explores the psychological and social aspects of body image, self-understanding and identity formation. His sculptures carry transformation in themselves, while reflecting on issues of sexuality, identity, fragility, power and social change through them.
Bence Magyarlaki’s works reflect the issues of intimacy, social relations and body image, and different body concepts. His sculptures are dynamic representations of a body bending in on itself or intertwined with another, exploring social patterns of belonging. The anthropomorphism of his work invites us to a fluid, emotional and relational reinterpretation of the body.
